American University, located in Washington D.C., was founded in 1893 by an act of Congress. There are more than 5000 undergraduates, 3000 graduate students, and almost 600 faculty. AU also has a law school.

UC Berkeley is the oldest of the University of California System schools. It is a highly selective school with over 300 fields of study and 1950 faculty members. There are approximately 24,000 undergraduates and 10,000 graduate students enrolled.

Binghamton, located in Binghamton, N.Y., is part of the State University of New York System. There are almost 14,500 undergraduates, almost 3000 graduate students, and a faculty of 551. The website describes the college, visiting, and how to apply.

Founded in 1764 as The College of Rhode Island, it moved to Providence in 1804. It was the first college to admit students of all religious persuasions.

Bucknell, located in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, was founded in 1846. Bucknell has 3400 undergraduates and 150 graduate students.

Dartmouth College, located in Hanover, New Hampshire, is a highly selective, ivy league college. It was founded in 1769. There are 4100 undergraduates and 1600 graduate students at Dartmouth which includes students at the Medical School.

Founded in 1636, Harvard is the oldest institution of higher education in the United States. Located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, it is highly selective school. Harvard has had many distinguished graduates including seven presidents.

Johns Hopkins University, a highly selective university located in Baltimore, Maryland, was founded in 1876. The main campus has 4400 undergraduates and 1600 graduate students.

Lehigh, located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, was founded in 1865. There are approximately 4500 undergraduates, 2000 graduate students, and 614 faculty members.

MIT, located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, is one of the top schools of science and technology in the world. It also houses the Sloan School of Management and a School of Architecture and City Planning.

Princeton University, located in Princeton, N.J., is a highly selective Ivy League University. It was chartered in 1746 as the College of New Jersey by the British. There are approximately 4,700 undergraduates at Princeton and 700 full time faculty.

Penn State, founded in 1855, is located in State College, Pennsylvania. It is the State-related, land-grant University with 24 campuses. The main campus has almost 37,000 undergraduates and 6300 graduate students.

Rutgers is the State University of New Jersey, located in New Brunswick with branches in Newark and Camden. Along with William and Mary, Rutgers is a colonial college that became a public university.

The University of Kentucky, located in Lexington, was founded in 1865. There are more than 27,000 students enrolled at UKY; 71% of whom are undergraduates.

The University of Michigan with 24,500 undergraduates and 13,500 graduate students, is located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It is one of the top-ranked schools by U.S. News and World Report.

The University of North Carolina located in Chapel Hill, has almost 17,000 undergraduates and 11,000 graduate students with 1,382 faculty members. UNC opened in 1789.

UT Knoxville, a land-grant university, traces its origins to 1794. There are 20,400 undergraduates, 6,000 graduate students, and 1,400 faculty. UT's MBA program is ranked 5th among public universities by the Wall St.

UVM is located in Burlington overlooking Lake Champlain. It was founded in 1791. There are over 9000 undergraduates and 1350 graduate students plus 406 medical students. There are PhD programs in many of the sciences.

Yale University, located in New Haven, Connecticut, has its origins in the Colonial days of America. There are over 5300 undergraduates, 6000 graduate students, and a faculty of 3333.
