SEDS, founded in 1980 at MIT and Princeton, is an independent, student-based organization that promotes the exploration and development of space. Users can join or start Chapters according to directions online.

Oxford Brookes University traces its beginnings to 1865. The School describes itself as modern and lists its many honors and awards. There are almost 19,000 students at Brookes, 20% of whom are international students.

Founded in 1764 as The College of Rhode Island, it moved to Providence in 1804. It was the first college to admit students of all religious persuasions.

Concordia University, located in Montreal, Canada, was founded in 1974. There are almost 31,000 students, 3500 of whom are international students. The school offers an extensive adult education program.

UVM is located in Burlington overlooking Lake Champlain. It was founded in 1791. There are over 9000 undergraduates and 1350 graduate students plus 406 medical students. There are PhD programs in many of the sciences.

A private research and teaching University founded in 1869, BU has admitted students of both sexes, and every religion and race from the beginning. There are over 31,000 students enrolled at BU and a faculty of 3812.

Dartmouth College, located in Hanover, New Hampshire, is a highly selective, ivy league college. It was founded in 1769. There are 4100 undergraduates and 1600 graduate students at Dartmouth which includes students at the Medical School.

Dublin City University, located in Ireland, was founded in 1989 and was considered an unconventional school in that it aimed to actually place students with jobs after graduation.

DePaul, located in Chicago, was founded in 1898 by the Congregation of the Mission religious community and remains the nation's largest private Catholic University in the country. There are over 23,000 students and 1521 faculty members.

Georgia Tech, located in Atlanta, was founded in 1885. In 1961, it was the first university in the Deep South to admit African-American students without a court order.

Kent State, founded in 1910, is located in Kent, Ohio. There are seven other branches in Northeast Ohio. Kent State is well-known as the place where several students were killed during a 1970 war protest.

UCL was founded in 1826 as an alternative to universities that were only open to members of the Church of England. The School is famous for many things, among them the living icon of Jeremy Bentham.

UCSC, which opened in 1965, has a current enrollment of about 15,000 students. The Graduate program has an enrollment of approximately 1,400, including an unusual interdisciplinary program in the History of Consciousness.

The University of Kentucky, located in Lexington, was founded in 1865. There are more than 27,000 students enrolled at UKY; 71% of whom are undergraduates.

The University of Michigan with 24,500 undergraduates and 13,500 graduate students, is located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It is one of the top-ranked schools by U.S. News and World Report.
