UConn, located in Storrs and founded in 1881, is the state's flagship institution of higher learning. It is a major land-grant, sea-grant, and space-grant, research University with over 16,000 undergraduate students at the Storrs campus.
The University of Dundee, originally part of the University of St. Andrews, has been an independent school since 1978. It is located in Dundee, Scotland which is Scotland's 4th largest city.
The Donald Bren School, part of the UCIrvine campus of the University of California, was founded as a Department in 1968 and established as an independent School in 2002.
Indiana University is comprised of 8 campuses, the largest is in Bloomington which is the flagship campus. The website has links to all branches. There are almost 38,000 students at IU.
Johns Hopkins University, a highly selective university located in Baltimore, Maryland, was founded in 1876. The main campus has 4400 undergraduates and 1600 graduate students.
First open in 1986, NCSA is one of the original five major National Science Foundation Supercomputer Centers. It is located on the campus of the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign.
NMSU, a Land-Grant University, was founded in 1888. Its main campus is in Las Cruces with several branches around the state. Total enrollment is over 27,000 on all campuses, and about 1700 faculty.
Penn State, founded in 1855, is located in State College, Pennsylvania. It is the State-related, land-grant University with 24 campuses. The main campus has almost 37,000 undergraduates and 6300 graduate students.
Rutgers is the State University of New Jersey, located in New Brunswick with branches in Newark and Camden. Along with William and Mary, Rutgers is a colonial college that became a public university.
UCSC, which opened in 1965, has a current enrollment of about 15,000 students. The Graduate program has an enrollment of approximately 1,400, including an unusual interdisciplinary program in the History of Consciousness.
UCSF became part of the California University system in 1873. It is the only UC campus dedicated exclusively to the health sciences. The school has professional programs in dentistry, medicine, nursing, and pharmacy.
The University of Delaware grew from a small private academy begun in 1743 to a major university that was chartered in 1833. The main campus is in Newark and there are 5 other locations. The school has over 20,000 students and a faculty of 1,117.
The University of Washington with its main campus in Seattle, was founded in 1861 and is one of the oldest state-supported schools in the West. The school is considered one of the public ivies. There are over 40,000 students at UW.
WSU's largest campus is located in Pullman and has over 18,000 students. The school was founded in 1892 as the Washington Agricultural College and School of Science. WSU offers more than 150 majors, 70 master's programs, and 44 PhD programs.
